Keanu Reeves and Christina Hendricks join Nicolas Winding Refn's Neon Demon

Henry's Crime

Story by Jack Foley

KEANU Reeves and Christina Hendricks have joined the cast of Nicolas Winding Refn’s horror film, The Neon Demon.

Plot details remain sketchy but the chiller is said to be female-focused and also stars Jena Malone, Abbey Lee and Bella Heathcote, as well as Elle Fanning in the lead role.

Neon Demon marks the Danish director’s follow-up to Only God Forgives, which was given a rough ride by critics. The filmmaker is also responsible for the more highly-rated Drive.

Principal photography is due to begin in March 30 in Los Angeles.

For Reeves, Neon Demon marks his second recent venture into horror territory following Knock Knock, which recently premiered at Sundance. He will shortly be seen in UK cinemas in the action vehicle John Wick, a sequel to which has just gone into development.

Hendricks, who is best known for her role in TV’s Mad Men, recently starred in Ryan Gosling’s directorial project Lost River as well as Dark Places, the adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s novel. She has previously worked with Refn on Drive.

Refn and Mary Laws wrote the script for Neon Demon, while Refn’s long-time partner, Lene Borglum, who worked with the director on Valhalla Rising and Only God Forgives will be producing.
