Kelsey Grammer named as Transformers 4 villain

Transformers 4

Story by Jack Foley

KELSEY Grammer, best known as jovial psychiatrist Frasier, is to play the villain in Michael Bay’s Transformers 4.

The role continues Grammer’s newfound status as bad guy given that the actor found a lot of success and acclaim playing a hard-ass politician in Starz’s now-cancelled Boss.

Plot details surrounding the fourth instalment in the franchise remain under wraps but Bay insists it is not a reboot even though it is only loosely connected to past entries and boasts a whole new set of characters.

Mark Wahlberg takes the lead role, while Stanley Tucci, Jack Reynor and Nicola Peltz have all been added.

Ehren Krueger has penned the script.

Transformers 4 is due to open in the US on June 27, 2014.
