Story by Jack Foley

THE new film from Ken Loach has been unveiled as Route Irish, a tense love triangle between two men and a woman.

The film, which will reunite him with cinematographer Chris Menges and is being penned by Loach’s longtime writing partner Paul Laverty, stars screen debutants Mark Womack and Andrea Lowe (Where The Heart Is).

It also boasts comedian John Bishop and support from Trevor Williams and Talib Hamafraj.

The plot will follow two men who work as private security contractors in Iraq.

When one of them, named Frankie, is killed on ‘Route Irish’, the road linking Baghdad airport with the Green Zone, the other, Fergus, rejects the official explanation and begins to investigate the truth behind his friend’s death.

Loach’s last film with Laverty was the critically-acclaimed comedy-drama Looking For Eric
