Kenneth Branagh to play villain in Jack Ryan
Story by Jack Foley
KENNETH Branagh is set to play the villain in Paramount’s new Jack Ryan movie.
The actor, who is already directing the reboot, is in talks for the role, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Chris Pine has been cast as Ryan, the ex-Marine turned analyst from the Tom Clancy novels, who this time uncovers a terrorist plot while living in Moscow as a financial analyst.
If successful, Branagh would take the role of Viktor Stazov, a finance expert who has master-minded a plot to devalue American currency with the help of the Russian government, thereby destroying the US economy.
Branagh last appeared on screen in My Week With Marylin and can currently be seen reprising his role as Wallander on BBC1 on Sunday nights.
