Kevin Feige confirms Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and talks James Gunn

Guardians of the Galaxy

MARVEL Studios head Kevin Feige has confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 will go-ahead despite the loss of director James Gunn.

Gunn was fired way back in July following the emergence of inappropriate jokes he made on social media some years earlier. He oversaw the successful launch of the Guardians by writing and directing both Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 1 and Volume 2.

But he has since defected to rival comic book studio DC to helm the forthcoming sequel to Suicide Squad

But speaking to MTV’s Josh Horowitz during the Golden Globes on Sunday, Feige confirmed that plans for a third film in the popular Guardians franchise were unaffected.

Guardians will happen. When, where, how? For a later time,” he said, without going into the subject any further.

As for Gunn, Feige harbours no ill will either to the filmmaker or rival studio DC. Rather, he even confessed to being a fan.

““I went to see [DC’s] Aquaman last night and I really, really enjoyed it. I don’t see a rivalry, I see cool things being made.”

And alluding to Gunn’s involvement in the Suicide Squad sequel, he added: “One thing you know about James Gunn, he makes cool things.”

During his chat with Horowitz on the red carpet, Feige also talked a little about the forthcoming Avengers: Endgame and how it would be marketed, confirming that most of what fans will be allowed to see before the film’s release would largely draw on the first 15 or 20 minutes or so of the film.

“As was the case with a lot of our films, this one in particular, being able to generate excitement without giving away any of the many, many, many, secrets…. would be ideal, and I think the marketing team is just the best in the world and will be able to pull it off,” he said.
