Kim Basinger for infertility drama Petit

KIM Basinger is to star in Petit, the new English-language drama from Danish director Anders Morgenthaler (Princess).

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning actress will play Maria, a successful career woman who, upon being told she is infertile, attempts to adopt.

As her desperation grows, however, she dabbles with the criminal world of infant prostitution in Eastern Europe.

Joining Basinger on the shoot, which hs already begun in Hamburg, Germany, are Jordan Prentice (In Bruges), Peter Stormare (Fargo) and German actors Sophie Rois and Sebastian Schipper, co-stars of Tom Tykwer’s 3.

Petit is due for release in 2014.

Basinger recently completed shooting on the Paul Haggis drama Third Person, in which she has a supporting role as the wife of a character played by Liam Neeson.

She also has the sports comedy Grudge Match, alongside Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro, and the drama One Square Mile from Canadian filmmaker Charles-Olivier Michaud, in the bag.
