Kirsten Dunst joins Jeff Nichols' Midnight Special

KIRSTEN Dunst has joined the cast of Jeff Nichols’ new science-fiction drama Midnight Special.

The former Spider-Man actress will line up opposite Nichols regular Michael Shannon and Joel Edgerton.

Based on a script from Nichols himself, the film will follow a father who discovers that his eight-year-old son has supernatural powers forcing the two to go on the run from their enemies.

Dunst recently won the best actress award at Cannes for Lars Von Trier’s Melancholia in 2011. She will next be seen in the thriller The Two Faces of January opposite Viggo Mortensen.

Shannon has previously been directed by Nichols in Shotgun Stories, Take Shelter aand Mud.
