GAME of Throne star Kit Harington is reportedly in talks to play a leading role in Paul WS Anderson’s adaptation of Pompeii.

The epic, which has been in development for several years, is based on a script by Lee Batchler and Janet Scott Batchler, Which Anderson (of Resident Evil fame) is looking to shoot next year (2013).

Harrington is being lined up to play a slave who becomes stuck on a ship near the ill-fated city and who faces a race against time to save his master’s daughter and one true love.

But he’s also determined to help his best friend, a gladiator trapped in the arena just as Mount Vesuvius begins to blow, according to Empire.

Harrington was last seen on the big screen in Silent Hill: Revelation. He is also lending his voice to How To Train Your Dragon 2, which is due in cinemas in 2014.
