Kristen Stewart linked to Lie Down in Darkness
Story by Jack Foley
KRISTEN Stewart has been linked to Lie Down in Darkness, an adaptation of a 1951 novel by acclaimed author William Styron.
Billed as a Dickensian and Dostoyevsky-like heavy drama, the film would follow the rise of a Southern family, which includes drunken patriarch Milton Loftis, who lusts after one of his two daughters.
It’s also comprised of a frigid mother and another crippled daughter.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stewart would play Peyton, the beautiful but tragic daughter who is the object of her father’s affections.
At this stage, Stewart is only attached because financing has yet to be secured and there is no start date for filming. Financing is reportedly dependent on who is cast as the male lead, with Colin Firth no longer on board, according to sources.
Nevertheless, Scott Cooper (of Crazy Heart fame) has written the script and is attached to direct should everything fall into place.
Stewart has two movies coming up for imminent release: The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part II, which marks the final installment in the vampire franchise, and On The Road, an adaptation of the classic Jack Kerouac novel.
