Kyle Chandler to star in Godzilla sequel

Story by Jack Foley

KYLE Chandler has joined the cast of the forthcoming Godzilla sequel.

The Bloodline and Friday Night Lights luminary will play a scientist, who is also the father of the character to be played by Millie Bobby Brown (of Stranger Things fame). The role would make him the hero of the movie.

Michael Dougherty is directing the follow-up from a script by Dougherty and Zach Shields – although plot details remain firmly under wraps.

However, the film is officially being called Godzilla: King of the Monsters and has been given a release date of March 22, 2019.

The first film in the franchise, directed by Gareth Edwards and released in 2014, earned $529.1 million worldwide.

Chandler, who won an Emmy and received multiple nominations for his role as Coach Eric Taylor on Friday Night Lights, has also received two Emmy nominations for his continuing performance in Netflix’s crime drama Bloodline.

He was also most recently seen in the awards-laden Manchester By The Sea alongside Casey Affleck.
