Logan, Get Out and The Big Sick among Writers' Guild Awards nominees

Story by Jack Foley

SUPERHERO movie Logan, indie horror hit Get Out and critically-acclaimed rom-com The Big Sick are among the films shortlisted for this year’s Writers Guild Awards.

The Big Sick and Get Out are both listed among the best original screenplays shortlisted, along with I, Tonya, Grete Gerwig’s Lady Bird and Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water.

Logan is among the adapted screenplay nominations along with gay drama Call Me By Your Name, James Franco’s The Disaster Artist, Aaron Sorkin’s Molly’s Game and Netflix drama Mudbound.

The Logan nomination is particularly notable, given that it comes after the well-received Hugh Jackman-starrer failed to land a Golden Globe or Screen Actors’ Guild award nomination.

The rest of the nominees are all considered contenders for Oscar nominations for best original and adapted screenplay.

The awards, together along with trophies in other categories, including TV and digital media, will be handed out on February 11, 2018 via simultaneous ceremonies in New York and LA.
