Luke Bracey to play Keanu Reeves role in Point Break remake
Story by Jack Foley
FORMER Home & Away star Luke Bracey has landed Keanu Reeves’ former role in the Point Break remake.
The actor, who also appeared (albeit masked) in GI Joe: Retaliation, will take on the character of hotshot FBI agent Johnny Utah, who is recruited to become a surfer and take on bank-robbing surfer Bodhi, to be played in the remake by Gerard Butler (and Patrick Swayze in the original).
Ericson Core is directing the movie, which begins shooting in the summer and is said to have more of a focus on extreme sports rather than just surfing.
In addition to Home & Away, Bracey is also known for Dance Academy, although he remains relatively unknown in the US.
He played the Cobra Commander in GI Joe: Retaliation. His other upcoming roles include the latest Nicholas Sparks adaptation Best of Me and Roger Donaldson’s November Man alongside Olga Kurylenko and Pierce Brosnan.
