Story by Jack Foley

LUKE Evans has landed the lead role in Universal’s Dracula reboot.

Described by The Hollywood Reporter as “a historical-oriented origin story”, the script follows a young prince who, when the lives of his wife and child are put in danger by a bloodthirsty sultan, risks his soul to save them and in the process becomes the first vampire.

Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the script, while long-time commercials helmer Gary Shore is making his directorial debut.

Evans will next be seen playing the villain in Universal’s Fast & Furious 6, which opens May 24. He has also landed the lead role in one of two BBC Great Train Robbery dramas.

He will also be seen playing Bard the Bowman in the upcoming installments of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit movies.

Previous movie roles have included playing Zeus in Immortals and Apollo in Clash of the Titans.
