Man of Steel sequel in development
Story by Jack Foley
WARNER Bros. has confirmed that it is to fast track a Man Of Steel with writer David S Goyer and director Zack Snyder already attached.
The news comes as little surprise given that the studio had always envisaged its Superman reboot to become a franchise capable of filling the void left by Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. They even secured Nolan as a producer on the film.
But healthy test screening reactions, followed by positive opening weekend tracking (the film is estimated to break the $100 million barrier in its first weekend in the US) and now largely positive reviews, has encouraged the studio to move forward with a second Superman.
According to Deadline, Goyer and Snyder are fully committed, although Nolan intends to step back further as producer to concentrate on his own Interstellar.
Henry Cavill also likely to reprise his role as Clarke Kent, although that deal has yet to be made official.
Man Of Steel hits cinemas on June 14.
