Margot Robbie to re-team with David Ayer for all-female Gotham City Sirens

Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn

Story by Jack Foley

MARGOT Robbie is to reunite with her Suicide Squad director David Ayer for an all-female DC villains movie entitled Gotham City Sirens.

Ayer will direct and produce the project with Robbie reprising her role as Harley Quinn, the on-off girlfriend of The Joker who is currently DC’s most popular female character.

Gotham City Sirens was a recent comic series from DC that focused on the popular villainesses from Batman’s rogue gallery. In addition to Quinn, there is also room for Catwoman and Poison Ivy, both of whom have featured in past Batman movies.

As yet, there is no idea on what the plot will be, although Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who has also penned scripts for the forthcoming Tomb Raider remake and Warners’ own Sherlock Holmes 3, is writing the screenplay.

It is to be imagined that the film will somehow feed into both future Suicide Squad films and the Justice League world.

Suicide Squad is now the 13th highest-grossing superhero release of all-time in the US, and has surpassed the international box office of Deadpool – and that’s despite being lambasted by critics.

Needless to say, a sequel is being developed – as is another potential spin-off featuring Deadshot, the assassin played by Will Smith.

Warners has not yet issued a release date for Sirens, but the project is now on the fast-track, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
