Margot Robbie to star in bank job thriller Dreamland

Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn

Story by Jack Foley

MARGOT Robbie is set to star in and produce the bank robbery thriller Dreamland.

Sundance winner Miles Joris-Peyrafitte is to direct the film, which boasts a script by Nicolaas Zwart that featured on the 2015 Black List.

Set in the 1930s, amid the devastation of the Dust Bowl, Dreamland follows a 15-year-old boy as he attempts to find and capture a fugitive bank robber and collect the bounty on her head in a bid to save his family farm from foreclosure.

Against all odds, he beats the FBI and the local police to find her, only to discover that she’s far more than what the authorities claim her to be.

Robbie will play the bank robber but, as yet, there is no word on who will play the boy.

However, according to the film’s producers, the film is aiming to deliver a balance of nostalgic beauty and gritty realism to the drama as well as a balance between a sense of romanticism and a sense of violence.

Joris-Peyrafitte made waves when he directed, co-wrote, scored and acted in As You Are, a teen drama set in the 1990s that won the special jury prize at the 2016 Sundance Film.

Robbie, who last year made her own waves by playing Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, has two movies in the can – both of which are true life dramas.

First up, there’s I, Tonya, which will be followed by Goodbye Christopher Robin.
