MARK Wahlberg is to reunite with director Peter Berg for an adaptation of the book American Desperado.

The two recently teamed up for real-life war drama Lone Survivor, which is based on the failed June 28, 2005 mission Operation Red Wing involving four US SEALS.

But even though that film has yet to be released, they’ve agreed to work together a second time on American Desperado, which is based on a New York City gangster who ran guns for the CIA and smuggled cocaine and cash for the Medellín Cartel.

The film is based on the book by Jon Roberts and Evan Wright and has been adapted for the screen by William Monahan (The Departed) is penning the script which is based on the book.

As yet, there is no release date or start time for production, according to Deadline.

Lone Survivor sees Wahlberg playing Marcus Luttrell alongside Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Eric Bana and Ben Foster.

The actor was seen earlier this year in crime drama Broken City and has action thriller 2 Guns alongside Denzel Washinngton heading into UK cinemas in August.
