Martin Scorsese lands top Golden Globe honour

MARTIN Scorsese is to be honoured with the Cecil B DeMille Award at the 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.
The accolade, which is bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, recognises a person’s outstanding contribution to the entertainment field.
Scorsese’s impressive body of work includes Mean Streets, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas and Casino. He has received two Golden Globe Awards for best director for The Departed and Gangs of New York as well as a further four nominations.
His next film, Shutter Island, is released in cinemas next year and will mark his first feature since he also won the Oscar for best director with The Departed. It once again reunites him with Leonardo DiCaprio.
Past recipients of the award have included Anthony Hopkins and Steven Spielberg.
This year’s Golden Globes ceremony will be hosted by Ricky Gervais on January 17, 2010. The nominations are due to be announced on December 15.
