Marvel developing Black Widow movie
Story by Jack Foley
MARVEL Studios is reportedly developing a Black Widow movie.
She will next appear in the imminent Captain America: The Winter Soldier as well as Avengers sequel, Age of Ultron.
But studio president Kevin Feige has long been keen on giving Black Widow a franchise of her own, telling Total Film magazine in a recent interview: “We’ve already started discussions with Scarlett about the idea of a solo movie and have begun putting together concepts, but The Avengers comes first.”
Captain America star Chris Evans also confirmed that the Black Widow character has a major story arc in The Winter Soldier that involves her coming to terms with her past as a spy and its repercussions regarding trust.
But commenting on her involvement in the upcoming Avengers sequel Feige added: “(Black) Widow’s part in that is very big. We learn more about her past and learn more about where she came from and how she became in that film. The notion of exploring that even further in her own film would be great and we have some development work with that.”
Whether those comments mean that a Black Widow movie would be included as part of Marvel’s Phase Three line-up, which already boasts Ant-Man, Doctor Strange and the third installments of The Avengers and Captain America remains unclear.
Johansson, for her part, remains very much sought after for projects away from the Marvel world.
