Matt Reeves to direct third Planet of the Apes movie
Story by Jack Foley
MATT Reeves is to remain with the Planet of the Apes franchise beyond this summer’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
The Cloverfield filmmaker has closed a deal to potentially direct a third film, although no release date has yet been set for the film.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is due to open in July and is the follow-up to 2011’s surprise box office smash Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, which was directed by Rupert Wyatt.
It bucked initial scepticism by becoming both a critical hit and a commercial one, grossing $481 million worldwide.
Reeves’ keenly-antiipated sequel sees Andy Serkis returning as chief rebel ape Caesar and also includes new cast members Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smith-McPhee, Enrique Murciano and Kirk Acevedo.
