Matt Smith for Ryan Gosling's How To Catch A Monster

DOCTOR Who star Matt Smith is to make his US acting debut in a new film written and directed by Ryan Gosling.
How To Catch A Monster, which mark Gosling’s first time behind the camera, and is described on its website as a project that combines “fantasy noir, horror and suspense into a modern-day fairytale”.
Eva Mendes, who co-stars with Gosling in upcoming thriller A Place Beyond The Pines, and Mad Men‘s Christina Hendricks, who appeared alongside the actor in Drive, will also appear.
Smith will play the joint lead alongside Hendricks, according to Variety.
Although his role has yet to be named, it is thought that he might be a character called Bully, who is described as being “dark and sinister”.
Hendricks will play Billy, a single mother of two who is swept into a dark fantasy underworld when her 18-year-old son discovers a secret road leading to an underwater town.
Gosling will beghin shooting his directorial debut in May on location in Detroit, Michigan.
Smith recently finished filming the latest season of Doctor Who, which will begin on BBC One at the end of March.
