Mel Gibson and Jodie Foster to reunite for The Beaver

Mel Gibson directs Apocalypto

Story by Jack Foley

MEL Gibson is to play a depressed man who seeks solace in wearing a beaver puppet in a new film.

The Beaver, directed by and co-starring Jodie Foster, is based on a script that topped Hollywood’s Blacklist – a shortlist of the best unproduced scripts in the business – in December last year. It’s written by Kyle Killen.

Variety reports that financing has yet to be finalised for the production, which has previously been considered as a star vehicle for Steve Carell. But Gibson is keen to get it made and could use his Icon production company.

The Beaver will mark Gibson and Foster’s second collaboration after Maverick.

It will also be Foster’s third film as director, following Little Man Tate and Home For The Holidays.
