Mel Gibson, Antonio Banderas and Glen Powell join Expendables 3
Story by Jack Foley
MEL Gibson, Antonio Banderas and Glen Powell are the latest big names to join the star-studded cast of The Expendables 3.
Franchise creator and leading man Sylvester Stallone first revealed the possibility of Gibson’s casting weeks ago via his Twitter account, when he wrote: “Mad Max Vs. Barney Ross.”
He later teased Banderas with “Antonio B? Could be.”
But just days after revealing that Harrison Ford would replace Bruce Willis in the film, the additions of Gibson and Banderas also appear to have been confirmed.
Powell, meanwhile, will play a leading role as a pilot, computer hacker and combat veteran.
His previous credits include The Dark Knight Rises.
Filming on the latest instalment is due to start on August 19 in Bulgaria.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Dolph Lundgren and Victor Ortiz have also committed to the sequel, while Australian director Patrick Hughes will step behind the camera.
The film is due to be released on August 15, 2014.
