Michael Bay to direct Transformers 5

Michael Bay directs Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Story by Jack Foley

MICHAEL Bay has decided to direct the fifth Transformers movie after all.

Speaking to Rolling Stone magazine while doing the press rounds for his latest movie, 13 Hours, the director confirmed the news – while insisting that this will be the last time he does so.

“I’m doing Transformers… 5, is it?” he said.

Asked why he had made a U-turn on his previous announcement that “Transformers: Age of Extinction”: would be his last, he continued: “Transformers, I still have a great time. It’s fun to do a movie that 100 million people will see. But this is the last one. I have to pass the reins to someone else.”

Age of Extinction marked a reboot for the franchise of sorts, introducing a new cast headed up by Mark Wahlberg, who will also be returning for the fifth film.

However, Transformers 5 is not expected to hit screens until some time in 2017.
