Miles Teller in talks for Thank You for Your Service

Whiplash

Story by Jack Foley

WHIPLASH star Miles Teller is in talks to star in new war drama Thank You for Your Service.

Based on the 2013 non-fiction book by Pulitzer prize-winning Washington Post reporter David Finkel, the film would follow the story of US soldiers dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder after being deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

It will mark the directorial debut of writer Jason Hall, whose script for American Sniper helped turn the movie into one of the biggest grossing films of 2015.

Ironically, American Sniper’s key events also played heavily on the struggles faced by military personnel upon returning from battle zones.

If his casting is confirmed, the role would mark another more serious turn for Teller following the box office failure of superhero epic Fantastic Four, in which Teller played the lead role of Reed Richards, AKA Mr Fantastic.

He did, however, win widespread acclaim for his performance as a determined but put-upon drummer in the Oscar-winning film Whiplash, which was also released earlier this year.
