NAOMIE Harris is in talks to play the villain Shriek in Venom 2.

A Spider-Man villain favourite, Shriek first came to prominence in the 1990s during the big Spider-Man comic book event Maximum Carnage, which saw Spider-Man, Venom and an assortment of heroes go up against Carnage and a group of villains he had assembled.

Shriek is known for her sonic powers and was also a love interest for Carnage. Woody Harrelson featured in a mid-credits sequence at the end of the first Venom as Carnage and is expected to reprise the role – aka Cletus Kasady – in the follow-up.

Tom Hardy is once again on board as Venom, with Michelle Williams also back as his love interest.

Andy Serkis is directing Venom 2, having replaced Ruben Fleischer.

The first film over-performed at the box office, earning a whopping $856 million despite lacklustre reviews.

Harris, who earned an Oscar nomination for Moonlight, will soon be seen in the police thriller Black and Blue. She is also in production on the forthcoming James Bond film, No Time to Die, which is due for release on April 8, 2020.

As yet, Sony Pictures have yet to put out an official statement regarding Harris’ casting.
