Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher to unite for rom-com
Story by Jack Foley
NATALIE Portman and Ashton Kutcher are to unite for a new romantic comedy to be directed by Ivan Reitman.
The as-yet untitled project will explore the ease with which men and women become sexually involved, but have a far more difficult time establishing emotional bonds, according to Variety.
Shooting is due to begin in May for Paramount Pictures, based on a script by Elizabeth Meriwether. A release date is rumoured to be next January in the States.
According to Reitman, the themes behind the film represent “an issue ripe for discussion”.
The veteran producer and director is also readying Ghostbusters 3 for Sony Pictures and has recently been busy producing and promoting Up In The Air and Chloe.
Portman continues her busy streak of late – she’s next to be seen in David Gordon Green’s adventure-comedy Your Highness and has recently completed production on Darren Aronofsky’s Black Swan. There’s also Kenneth Branagh’s Thor and Best Buds in the works.
Kutcher, meanwhile, was most recently seen in Gary Marshall’s ensemble comedy-drama Valentine’s Day, and will next be seen in Robert Luketic’s action-comedy Killers opposite Katherine Heigl.
