Next Wolverine movie set to be R-rated (15 or above)

THE next Wolverine movie could be R-rated (or 15 or above in the UK).

Twentieth Century Fox looks to have decided on making a grittier, more violent X-Men movie in light of the runaway success of Marvel’s Deadpool, which enjoyed a record breaking weekend in the US.

According to The Playlist, the intention was revealed in a promotional catalogue that was handed out by the studio at Toy Fair 2016.

The post was accompanied by a picture of the brochure which reveals a March 3, 2017, theatrical release date and a summer 2017 home entertainment release. It states at the bottom of the page that the ‘anticipated rating’ will be R.

The article goes on to speculate that such a move could possibly allow for a cameo from Deadpool himself – especially as that kind of thing was hinted at in the Deadpool movie.

The as-yet untitled Wolverine movie will see Hugh Jackman reprising his role as the clawed mutant for possibly the last time, with James Mangold returning to the director’s chair following his success with most recent character outing The Wolverine.

As yet, there is no official comment from Fox.
