SWEDISH actress Noomi Rapace is in talks to take on the role of the late soul singer Amy Winehouse in a new biopic.

According to Screen Daily, discussions remain in a very early stage and would be subject to finding time in Rapace’s busy schedule.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo star has recently signed on to play a major role in Michael Mann’s Ferrari biopic and is also committed to Prometheus sequel Alien: Paradise Lost.

Operating under the title of Amy Winehouse, the biopic would be directed by Kirsten Sheridan, whose previous work includes August Rush with Robin Williams.

Sheridan also wrote the screenplay for the acclaimed family drama In America and has also written the screenplay for Amy Winehouse.

News of the biopic arrives soon after Asif Kapadia’s critically acclaimed and commercially successful documentary Amy, which took a close look at the singer’s life and death.
