Olga Kurylenko to play Bond 22 sidekick
Story by Jack Foley
UKRAINIAN actress and former model Olga Kurylenko is to play James Bond’s sidekick in the next 007 movie, producers have confirmed.
The 28-year-old star, who was recently seen alongside Timothy Olyphant in computer game spin-off Hitman, will play a character called Camille, who is said to be “dangerously alluring”.
Her role is expected to be larger than that of St Trinian‘s actress Gemma Arterton, who joined the cast earlier this week.
Filming on Bond 22 is now underway and finds Marc Forster, of The Kite Runner and Finding Neverland fame, assuming directorial responsibility for the first time.
The movie is due for release on November 7, 2007, and the plot is expected to pick up immediately after the events of Casino Royale, as 007 (again played by Daniel Craig) attempts to come to terms with being double-crossed by Treasury agent Vesper Lynd (played by Eva Green).
According to franchise producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli Camille will “challenge Bond and help him come to terms with the emotional consequences of Vesper’s betrayal”.
In addition to the new cast members announced over recent weeks, it has also been revealed that Dame Judi Dench will reprise her role as M, while Jeffrey Wright and Giancarlo Giannini will return as Felix Leiter and Mathis, respectively.
French actor Mathieu Amarilic, shortly to be seen in The Diving Bell & The Butterfly, is to play Bond’s nemesis Dominic Greene, while 21-year-old Arterton makes her debut as MI6 Agent Fields.
