Oliver Jackson-Cohen to play The Invisible Man for Universal

Oliver Jackson Cohen

Story by Jack Foley

OLIVER Jackson-Cohen has nabbed the lead role of The Invisible Man in Universal Pictures’ update of the classic monster creation.

The Haunting of Hill House star will join Elisabeth Moss, Aldis Hodge, Harriet Dyer and Storm Reid in the film, which boasts a script from Saw co-creator Leigh Whannel – who will also direct.

Shooting is due to begin in Sydney, Australia, later this month (July 2019).

Jackson-Cohen’s co-star Moss has previously described The Invisible Man as a feminist spin on the old tale, which follows a scientist named Griffin, who has devoted himself to research into optics, and invents a way to change a body’s refractive index to that of air so that it neither absorbs nor reflects light and thus becomes invisible.

He successfully carries out this procedure on himself, but fails in his attempt to reverse it.

In addition to Netflix’s Haunting of Hill House, Jackson-Cohen’s credits include the BBC drama Man in an Orange Shirt, the Dwayne Johnson film Faster and the NBC Oz re-imagining of Emerald City.

The Invisible Man is currently due to be released on March 13, 2020, and will be produced by Jason Blum for his Blumhouse Productions.
