OLIVIA Munn has joined the cast of X-Men: Apocalypse as the telepathic Psylocke.

Director Bryan Singer announced the casting news via Instagram.

The character of Psylocke also goes by the name of Betsy Braddock. She was created by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe for the British Captain Britain series, where she appeared throughout the ’70s and ’80s, before joining the X-Men in 1987’s Uncanny X-Men No. 213.

Since then, she has been a mainstay both of the main team and spin-off series, including Exiles and X-Force.

Munn will line up alongside a cast that includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence.

X-Men: Apocalypse is the follow-up to X-Men: Days of Future Past and is currently in production for a summer 2016 release (May 27).

Munn is best known for her recurring roles in TV shows The Newsroom and New Girl. She was also seen starring alongside Johnny Depp in Mortdecai earlier this year.
