Olivia Wilde and Garrett Hedlund back for Tron 3

TRON: Legacy

Story by Jack Foley

OLIVIA Wilde and Garrett Hedlund are to return to the world of Tron for the forthcoming third film in the series.

To be directed once again by Joseph Kosinski, of 2010’s Tron: Legacy, the film will begin shooting in the autumn (2015) in Vancouver. However, as yet plot details have not been revealed.

Tron: Legacy was the sequel to the 1982 sci-fi film Tron, which took place inside a computer world known as The Grid and starred Jeff Bridges and Bruce Boxleitner. It became a cult favourite.

The sequel, made decades later, grossed $400 million worldwide despite mixed reviews.

The follow-up revealed that the computer programmer character played by Bridges had a son (played by Hedlund) who jumps into The Grid to find his father. Wilde played a character named Quorra, an algorithm made flesh who became an action heroine.

Hedlund has recently signed up for Billy Lynn’s Halftime Walk and will be playing Hook in Pan, Warner Bros.’ retelling of Peter Pan.

Wilde most recently starred in horror movie The Lazarus Effect.
