Cowboys and Aliens

Story by Jack Foley

OLIVIA Wilde is to follow-up her critically-acclaimed directorial debut Booksmart with period thriller titled Don’t Worry, Darling.

New Line has subsequently won the project after similar interest was shown by Netflix.

Plot details remains sketchy at this stage but the project focuses on a 1950s housewife who uncovers a disturbing truth about her perfect life.

The script was originally written by Shane and Carey Van Dyke but will now be re-written by Wilde’s collaborator Katie Silberman.

Wilde is also on board to star as well as direct.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wilde’s deal with New Line is similar to the one Warner Bros. made with Todd Phillips when it came to directing The Hangover. It underlines Wilde’s status as one of the most in-demand filmmakers of the moment following the critical success of Booksmart, which is being cited by several critics as one of the films of 2019 so far.
