Omar Sy joins X-Men: Days of Future Past
Story by Jack Foley
FRENCH actor Omar Sy has joined the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past in an unknown role.
Best known for his work in the acclaimed 2011 film The Intouchables, Sy is also currently working on Michel Gondry’s Moon Indigo.
Director Bryan Singer shared the news via Twitter Saturday, where he called the actor “brilliant”, adding: “Thrilled to welcome the brilliant #OmarSy from the amazing film #TheIntouchables to the cast of #Xmen #DaysofFuturePast!”
Sy joins returning cast members James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, as well as X-Men veterans Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart on the movie.
Singer also recently announced Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage was joining the cast in another unspecified role.
Based on the iconic 1981 story in Marvel Comics’ Uncanny X-Men, Days of Future Past – the follow-up to X-Men: First Class – will portray the original series stars as older versions of their characters in a dystopian future in which mutants are hunted down.
Hugh Jackman, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page and Shawn Ashmore are also on board to reprise their roles from the original 2000-2006 trilogy.
Days of Future Past is due to start shooting in April and is scheduled for a July 18, 2014, release.
