Open casting call to be held in London for key Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them role

Story by Jack Foley

AN OPEN casting call is to be held in London to find a girl to star in JK Rowling’s Harry Potter spin-off film Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The Excel Centre in London will be the venue for the search, where Warner Bros is looking to find a girl between the ages of eight and 12 to play the character of Modesty.

A statement released by the studio reads: “Modesty is a haunted young girl with an inner strength and stillness. She has an ability to see deep into people and understand them.”

The casting call takes place on Saturday, July 18, 2015, with young hopefuls invited to start queuing from 9am (BST).

The chosen actress will subsequently star alongside Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne in what looks set to be one of the biggest film releases of next year.

Rowling has written the screenplay for the film, which is based on a Harry Potter spin-off book she published in 2001, while Redmayne will play “magizoologist” Newt Scamander, who writes a Hogwarts School textbook about the weird and wonderful fictional creatures he encounters.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is currently due for release in cinemas on November 18, 2016.
