Oz The Great And Powerful sequel in the works
Story by Jack Foley
IT comes as little surprise but Disney is already planning a sequel to Oz The Great and Powerful.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mitchell Kapner has been hired to write a script to the follow-up that will continue the adventures of Oz, played by James Franco.
It was Kapner who came up with the original idea for the movie, based on the characters and iconography of Frank L Baum’s classic Oz novels.
Although the film has yet to debut in cinemas, box office tracking predicts a bumper weekend in the $80 million to $90 million range, which places it comfortably on target to recoup, if not surpass, the reported $200 million it cost to make it.
Prior to picking up the trail of the yellow brock road, Kapner wrote The Whole Nine Yards and its sequel, The Whole Ten Yards, and also worked on the action movie Romeo Must Die with Jet Li.
