Paul Giamatti and Garrett Dillahunt join Twelve Years A Slave

Barney's Version

Story by Jack Foley

PAUL Giamatti and Garrett Dillahunt have joined the cast of Steve McQueen’s Twelve Years A Slave.

They will also be joined by fellow new cast members Sarah Paulson, as well as Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Twelve Years A Slave marks McQueen’s third movie after Hunger and Shame and follows Solomon Northup, a free black man living in New York who is kidnapped and sold into slavery. It will mark Fassbender’s third collaboration with McQueen.

Ejiofor will play the lead role of Northup in the 19th century-set drama while Variety reports that Giamatti has been cast in the role of the man who takes charge of the slaves once they reach their New Orleans plantation.

Paulson (of Martha Marcy May Marlene fame) will play Giamatti’s jealous wife, while Raising Hope star Dillahunt will play a field hand who works alongside Northup.
