Paul Rudd set for Ant-Man leading role
Story by Jack Foley
PAUL Rudd has been chosen to play Ant-Man in Edgar Wright’s Marvel superhero movie.
The actor, best known for comedic roles in the Anchorman films and This Is 40, reportedly beat Joseph Gordon-Levitt to the role, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Gordon-Levitt recently became attached to Sandman.
Ant-Man follows the fortunes of a scientist named Dr Hank Pym who invents shrinking technology (known as Pym Particles!) and becomes a different kind of superhero.
In comic book form, the character is one of Marvel’s earliest creations.
Wright is a director known for his Cornetto trilogy with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, the final part of which – The World’s End – was released in cinemas this summer.
He is renowned for making films that balance action, sci-fi and comedy, having also successfully adatped Scott Pilgrim Vs The World for Universal.
Ant-Man already has a release date of July 31, 2015.
