Philip Seymour Hoffman joins Child 44

Jack Goes Boating

Story by Jack Foley

PHILIP Seymour Hoffman has joined the cast of Child 44 alongside Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace and Gary Oldman.

Adapted from Tom Rob Smith’s best-seller and directed by Daniel Espinosa (of Safe House fame), the film follows a disgraced member of the Soviet Union military police during the Stalin era who investigates a series of child murders that connect to high members of the political party.

In book form, Child 44 is the first of a trilogy of novels. The script has been penned by Richard Price.

As yet, there is no word on which actors have been assigned to which roles, but Espinosa favourite Joel Kinnaman is also among the ensemble. The two previously worked together on both Snabba Cash films.

Ridley Scott is producing.

The film is currently scheduled for release sometime in 2014.
