Producers Guild of America include Skyfall and Lincoln on awards shortlist

Story by Jack Foley

THE Producers Guild of America has included James Bond movie Skyfall and historical epic Lincoln among its nominations for its annual awards.

Skyfall‘s nod among the hopefuls for the outstanding producer of theatrical motion pictures prize marks the first time a 007 movie has been included in an awards shortlist.

What’s more, the PGA prize is viewed as a good indicator of which film could win best picture at the Oscars given that the PGA recipient has gone on to win best picture 16 times in the last 23 years.

The shortlist also includes musical Les Miserables, Ang Lee’s Life of Pi, awards laden comedy Silver Linings Playbook, Wes Anderson’s indie hit Moonrise Kingdom and Beasts of the Southern Wild.

Among the films nominated for outstanding producer in an animated motion picture are Tim Burton’s stop-motion Frankenweenie, Pixar’s Brave and DreamWorks Animation’s Rise of The Guardians.

The PGA also announced its TV film and and series’ nominees, which included Downton Abbey and Homeland.

The awards will be handed out at a ceremony in Los Angeles on January 26.

The main film nominees are:

Beasts of the Southern Wild
Django Unchained
Les Miserables
Life of Pi
Moonrise Kingdom
Silver Linings Playbook
Zero Dark Thirty
