Ralph Fiennes and Hugh Laurie join Will Ferrell's Holmes and Watson

Story by Jack Foley

RALPH Fiennes and Hugh Laurie have joined the cast of Will Ferrell’s Holmes and Watson.

Little is known about the plot of the comedy but the film will not be related to either the Guy Ritchie reboots starring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, or the BBC series with Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman.

It will, however, find Ferrell reuniting with John C Reilly for the third time after Talladega Nights and Step Brothers in the lead roles, with further support coming from Kelly Macdonald, Rebecca Nicholson and Rob Brydon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fiennes and Laurie will play beloved canonical figures from the books of Arthur Conan Doyle – although it remains to be seen whether either will play Moriarty.

Holmes and Watson is being written and directed by Etan Cohen, whose most recent credit was the Ferrell/Kevin Hart jail farce Get Hard.

Holmes and Watson is scheduled for release next year and is currently shooting in London.
