Razzies 2017: Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice ties with Hilary Clinton doc for prizes

Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice

Story by Jack Foley

BATMAN V Superman: Dawn of Justice has tied with Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party for the most Razzie Awards of 2017.

Zack Snyder’s critically-derided superhero blockbuster claimed four awards, with stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill named worst on-screen combo.

The film also won worst remake, rip-off or sequel, as it was a continuation of the DC cinematic universe following 2013’s Man of Steel, as well as worst supporting actor for Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor.

A fourth and final ‘award’ was bestowed upon it for worst screenplay.

Director Dinesh D’Souza’s anti-Hillary Clinton documentary was named worst picture ahead of Batman v Superman, Gods of Egypt, Bad Grandpa, Zoolander No. 2 and Independence Day: Resurgence.

D’Souza himself was named worst director and worst actor – he played himself in the film.

However, the actor-director proved to have a good sense of humour about the whole thing, recording a self-shot video in which he claimed the award, saying: “The reason you’re giving it to me is because you’re very upset that [Donald] Trump won.”

A fourth ‘award’ went to the film’s lead actress, Becky Turner, who was named worst actress for her portrayal of the former Democratic presidential candidate.

Both Batman V Superman and Hillary’s America claimed a total of eight awards – and there were only nine up for grabs.

The final one went to Kristen Wiig as worst supporting actress for her character in Zoolander No. 2.
