Ridley Scott to direct Western Wraiths of the Broken Land

Story by Jack Foley

RIDLEY Scott is to reunite with Drew Goddard, the writer of The Martian, for Western drama Wraiths of the Broken Land.

The veteran filmmaker will turn to the project after he completes work on Prometheus sequel, Alien: Covenant.

Adapted from S Craig Zahler’s 2013 novel, the film will follow the dogged tale of two kidnapped sisters who are forced into prostitution in Mexico.

Their only hope of rescue comes in the form of their two brothers and father, who subsequently storm across the bad-lands in a bid to find them.

Scott and Goddard were showered with critical acclaim and awards success when they worked together on The Martian, which grossed over $630 million at the worldwide box office and picked up seven Oscar nominations, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay for Goddard.
