Robert Pattinson to star in The Rover

Remember Me

Story by Jack Foley

ROBERT Pattinson is to take the lead role in new Australian film, The Rover, alongside Guy Pearce.

The film comes from writer-director David Michod, the man behind the critically-acclaimed Animal Kingdom.

Described as a futuristic western and set in the Australian desert, the film will follow the fortunes of Eric, a man who has left everything, everyone and every semblance of human kindness behind him, as he’s forced to join an injured gang member, Rey, to hunt down the latter’s gang after they steal the last of Eric’s possessions.

The film is being supported by cash from Screen Australia, which has also recently lent its support to the Joel Edgerton-scripted contemporary drama Felony and Healing, a redemptive prison drama starring Hugo Weaving.

Screen Australia’s CEO Ruth Harley said: “These highly engaging and diverse Australian stories have huge potential. The Rover is a powerful well-crafted script from a talented team with an impressive cast.

Felony has international breakout potential, and Healing promises to be a highly emotional and moving story on screen.”
