Robert Redford in talks for Captain America: Winter Soldier
Story by Jack Foley
ROBERT Redford is in talks to appear in his first comic book movie, Captain America: Winter Soldier.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran appears “likely to close his deal” with Marvel Studios on the sequel, which is due to begin filming in May.
Picking up after the events of Marvel Avengers Assemble, the film continues the adventures of Steve Rogers/Captain America (played by a returning Chris Evans) and will focus on his relationship with side-kick Bucky (Sebastian Stan), who in the comics returns as the brainwashed assassin Winter Soldier.
According to sources cited by The Hollywood Reporter, Redford would play an older member of secret government agency S.H.I.E.L.D. in what is being pitched as an M-style role similar to the one recently portrayed by Ralph Fiennes in Skyfall.
Joe and Anthony Russo are directing the film, which is currently scheduled for release in the US on April 4, 2014.
Anthony Mackie, Emily VanCamp and Frank Grillo are also among the ensemble cast.
