Robert Redford to direct A Walk in the Woods

The Company You Keep

Story by Jack Foley

ROBERT Redford is to direct A Walk In The Woods.

Based on travel writer Bill Bryson’s popular book A Walk in the Woods: Rediscovering America on the Appalachian Trail, the story chronicles the author’s attempt to walk the Appalachian Trail with a friend.

Nick Nolte, who worked with Redford on his most recent film as director The Company You Keep, will star.

Redford has long been interested in bringing Bryson’s book to the screen and, at one point, was intending to star. At that stage, Richard Linklater had been set to direct but he fell out in recent days, prompting Redford’s decision to step behind the camera.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film may take shape more at the Cannes buyers’ market, where Redford is expected to attend while promoting his current starring role in All Is Lost.
