Romero zombie classic to be re-imagined in 3D
Story by Jack Foley
ZOMBIE classic Night of the Living Dead is to be remade in a 3D CGI format without the involvement of original creator, George Romero.
Zebediah de Soto is to direct the re-imagining, which is to be called Night of the Living Dead: Origins, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The aim of the project is to update the zombie tale and explore some of the characters’ back-stories using what De Soto calls “an American-style anime”.
The newcomer is currently working with effects company New Golden Digital to develop a real-time effects system, known as The Beast, that would enable filmmakers to direct CG performances in the same way they direct real-life actors.
This basically means that tennis balls on a stick would become a thing of the past, thereby enabling actors to inter-act with CG elements as if they were really in front of them.
