Rumour Has It - Jennifer Aniston interview

Jennifer Aniston in Rumour Has It

Compiled by Jack Foley

Q. Can you tell us about your character?
A. When we meet her, she’s confused and she’s a little unsure of why she’s here and where she’s going and who she is, basically. And also unsure of the decision that she made to say yes to her fiancé. And it all kind of stems from just, there’s a missing piece of her, which is her mother, and I think that means she is feeling very disconnected from her family.

Q. What was it like working with Kevin Costner?
A. He brings stillness and sensuality. He is also very paternal, in a way which he brings a lot to the character.

Q. And director Rob Reiner?
A. He’s sort of the king of these movies of heart and funny. I mean, he’s across the board from breaking your heart to making you laugh hysterically. And it was really fun to kind of watch this man.

Q. Needless to say, we have to ask you about working with Shirley MacLaine?
A. I worship this woman. I have, ever since I can tell you. She has been one of my great idols. I can’t, still can’t believe that I’ve been able to do this and look across at her and just play with her. She’s fantastic. She’s absolutely fantastic in every way.

Q. And finally, how was Mark Ruffalo?
A. You could not ask for a more supportive, lovely, talented, hysterical, hard working man to play opposite. He really is. It’s so funny. All of these girls that I know from, who’ve worked with him, they’ll say: “This is the best co-star you’ll ever work with. The best actor you could ever ask to work with.” And they were, I mean, they were absolutely right.
