Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana confirmed for all three Avatar sequels
Story by Jack Foley
SAM Worthington and Zoe Saldana will reprise their characters for the next three Avatar movies, it has been confirmed.
James Cameron will make the trio of movies back-to-back-to-back, with the first sequel due to hit cinemas in December 2016, to be followed by the second in December 2017 and the third and final instalment a year after that.
Cameron himself commented: “Jake Sully is a rare combination of passion, strength, street smarts and soul, which requires a lot from an actor. Sam brought to the role a combination of sensitivity, vulnerability and strength.
“Zoe captured every aspect of the character I envisioned, bringing to Neytiri a mix of delicacy, fierceness and incredible physicality. I am beyond pleased they’ll be returning with us to Pandora.”
Worthington and Saldana are not the only two original cast members returning. As previously announced, Stephen Lang has signed up for the next three as well as mad Marine Colonel Quaritch – although it has not been revealed how he will appear given that his character died in the 2009 original.
No further plot details have been revealed but, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Jake Sully and Neytiri, the characters played by Worthington and Saldana, will have kids.
